Mrs. Cevigney's 6th Grade Webpage
Hello, and welcome to my 6th grade webpage! I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Iron Mountain and am proud to say that I graduated high school as a Mountaineer! I continued on with my education in downstate Mount Pleasant as a Chippewa at Central Michigan University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education. My promise to myself was to be willing to move to the city that first offered me a teaching job. Surprise! The first place to offer was Iron Mountain Public Schools, and so I packed my bags and moved back north.
My original teaching position in Iron Mountain was for a 6th grade position at East Elementary School. I taught for two years at East and then was relocated to Central Elementary School teaching the same grade level. After two plus decades and teaching 6th grade the whole time, I was excited to find out this year that 6th grade would be returning to East Elementary. This will be my 30th year teaching at this wonderful level.
When I am not teaching I am enjoying my other role as wife to my wonderful husband Scott, and mom to our beautiful twin daughters, Anni and Alli, who are seniors at NMU.
In my spare time I am currently coaching JV and Freshman Volleyball for Iron Mountain High School. I have also enjoyed coaching and mentoring with many elementary/middle school travel basketball teams and the middle school volleyball program. In addition to this I am a part owner of Crispigna's Italian Deli.
I am looking forward to another awesome year with my teaching partner of many years Mrs. Solda. On our teaching team, she enjoys teaching all the 6th graders science and math, whereas my specialty is language arts and social studies.
I am looking forward to working with my students and families in the 2018-2019 school year!!
